One with the global Lasallian Family and guided by the Vision-Mission of De La Salle Philippines, DLSMHSI continually promotes and maintains the quality and standards of education that demonstrate the LASALLIAN CHARACTER in terms of knowledge, values, and competencies. The Institution is committed to fostering lifelong learners among its graduates, empowering them to become nurturers of life through diverse and meaningful experiences, and ensuring they are equipped to meet the needs of society within the healthcare system as they transition to practice.
The Center for Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) is at the frontline of DLSMHSI in upholding the Lasallian Mission of providing Human and Christian Education. Through its General Education courses offered across the undergraduate colleges, CHSS fosters genuine commitment to the integral development of students in all their uniqueness and diversity.
The Humanities are grounded on religious education, philosophy and ethics, languages and literature, arts, and physical education; while the Social Sciences focus on the disciplines of history, psychology, and the contemporary world. Our faculty members are consistently engaged in professional development and are adaptive to the changing times, implementing innovative teaching and learning methodologies, advancing knowledge acquisition, and faithfully mindful of the rai·son d'être of Lasallian Education in general and DLSMHSI in particular.
Objectives
- Advocate the Catholic identity and the Lasallian Core Values through its Religious Education Program;
- Nurture genuine commitment to Human and Christian development;
- Provide solid foundation in the humanities and the social sciences;
- Promote moral integrity and safeguard the value of life through decisions that are grounded on Christian ethical principles and actions;
- Inculcate among DLSMHSI student’s global orientation, national pride, patriotism, social justice and civic action;
- Encourage self-expression that leads to realization of their full potential;
- Interpret and understand the human experience through the arts and socio-cultural traditions;
- Demonstrate mindfulness and appropriateness in the use of language through written, spoken and visual communication;
- Foster a strong sense of self-worth and appreciation of life-long fitness and its positive benefits; and
- Develop holistic healthcare professionals who are involved in research and actively participate in community engagement/outreach projects.
